Myrmidones were ancient wartime people who inhabited in Fthia, the present plateau of Domokos (Lake Xyniadas) in the prefecture of Fthiotida and were citizens of Achilles and Peleas in 3500 BC. At that time, the first kingdom of the Myrmidons was found, with capital the ancient Melitaia, and then, after 200 years, in 3300 BC. the second kingdom with capital the small island of Xyniada lake with Queen Xinia.
According to Omiros, the Myrmidones were wartime people led by Achilles. Today the “source of Achilleas” is located at the 16th kilometer of Lamia-Domokos Street. It is a stone fountain with centuries-old plane trees, where according to the tradition, Achilleas was resting and watering his horses.
